Marc Anthony opens up about his life and career on CBS’ Sunday Morning this weekend, revealing that, despite all his successes in the music world, there is one thing that he would have done differently.
“The one regret would be that what I chose to do took so much of my time. What I would have done to have been a stay-at-home dad, and, you know, witnessed every second of everything,” Anthony tells Tracy Smith in an interview which will air on Sunday. “I would have loved that. Didn’t work out that way. So it’s the one thing that just tugs at me… That’s the biggest sacrifice. And you sort of start to wonder, was it all worth it? Was it worth it?”

The 47-year-old singer is father to five children: 22-year-old Ariana, 15-year-old Cristian, 12-year-old Ryan, and 8-year-old twins Emme and Max. He explains that his life growing up in New York City’s Spanish Harlem as one of eight children is what shaped him into the performer he is today.
“To my mom, I was a pain in the a**. To my dad, I was the light of his eyes. And to me, I was awkward,” Anthony admits. “I had glasses. I weighed two pounds. My dad always told me, and as God’s honest truth, ‘Son, we’re ugly. Work on your personality."”

The advice, which the singer says was the “best thing” his father ever told him, has paid off big. He’s won two GRAMMY Awards and five Latin GRAMMYs, sold over 12 million albums worldwide, is part-owner of the Miami Dolphins, and recently founded Magnus Media, which focuses on helping other Latino artists establish a creative space and develop their own brands.
“This started as a dream and it became a reality,” Anthony marvels of the business.
The singer also opens up in the interview about his marriage to Jennifer Lopez and his decision to call out Donald Trump during a recent performance at Madison Square Garden.
Sunday Morning With Charles Osgood airs Sundays at 9 a.m. ET/PT on CBS.
