Lil Wayne records Cleveland Cavaliers tribute song, 'Off Off Off'

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Hip hop artist, avid sports fan and noted J.R. Smith acquaintance Lil Wayne dropped a Cleveland Cavaliers tribute song during Game 3 of the NBA Finals Wednesday night.

Like Iman Shumpert’s playoff anthem last season, “The Offs”, Lil Wayne’s Cavs song is full of name dropping and non-sequiturs and even has a similar title.

In “Off Off Off,” produced by Ben Billion$, Wayne mentions just about every Cavaliers player short of Dahntay Jones and Sasha Kaun. Even Cavaliers mascot/Tommy Bahama magazine ad Lil’ Kev gets a shout out.

The gist of the song? If you like the Cavs, do the dab. LeBron James is good at basketball. And will someone please pass Wayne the freakin’ ball!?

While the tune was recorded well before Game 3, some of the lyrics proved to be eerily prophetic.

Towards the end of the track, Lil Wayne raps, “T. Lue, I got a funny story man when I see you.”
