Can the Cavs take advantage of a few good breaks? -- Bud Shaw's You Said It

CLEVELAND, Ohio — You Said It is based on the premise that the only thing Cleveland sports fans need more than a championship is a sense of humor…

YOU SAID IT

Bud: Since the Cavs won Game 5 with Golden State’s Draymond Green out, when LeBron raises the trophy will this championship go down in Cleveland sports history as “The Asterisk,” to go along with The Shot, The Drive, The Fumble, etc? — Loren Gordon, Cleveland Heights

After the Cavs lost two starters in last year’s playoffs, after the city has waited 52 years for a title, the only way an asterisk gets attached to a Cavs title is if Riley Curry starts at guard in Game 7 in place of her injured father.

Hey Bud: How is it former Browns GMs and now Ray Farmer and others are expert personnel analysts on ESPN when they gave us Johnny Football and other flops? Kinda gives you hope for being syndicated — Cliff, Fairview

And widely read in parental basements everywhere.

Bud: When someone has the ball stolen from him, we say, “He got Shumped.” Why didn’t anyone report that Juan Uribe got “Draymond Greened” when he had his unfortunate accident? — Steve S (Taking the High Road), Richmond Heights.

I’m pretty sure that reference is the definition of the “low road.”

Bud: Was the movie on the Indians’ flight from LA “Tin Cup” or “Ball Four”? — Joe

Not sure. I just know it took awhile to return Juan Uribe to his original upright position.

Bud: Tribe #1 draft pick Will Benson is a “solid-average runner. ” Would it be a compliment to say you are a solid-average writer? — Rich Abe, Munson

This column is to writing what a mustard stain on your shirt is to fine art.

Bud: Do you think the NBA referee strike will be settled before the Thursday night game? — Dick, Cincinnati

You Said It winners finally get the call.
