Celebrate, CLE! 2016 Calder Cup, NBA, AL Central Division and UFC champs live here (photos)

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland’s 2016 championship roll continues unimpeded.

Once again, champagne corks were popped and Cleveland players drenched each other in bubbly Monday night. The Indians clinched the American League Central Division title in Detroit with a 7-4 victory over the Tigers, touching off a celebration in Comerica Park that carried into the visitors’ clubhouse.

This comes on the heels of the Cavaliers winning their first NBA championship in June, which was celebrated with a parade like none other in Cleveland’s history. The Cavs overcame a 1-3 deficit to beat the Golden State Warriors, winning a dramatic Game 7 on the road on Kyrie Irving’s last-minute 3-pointer.

Also taking part in that parade were the Lake Erie Monsters, since renamed the Cleveland Monsters, who won the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup championship with a 4-0 sweep of the Hershey Bears. Oliver Bjorkstrand scored the Game 4 winner in overtime, his sixth game-winner of the playoffs.

The championship run began with Eastlake native Stipe Miocic winning the UFC heavyweight title in May with a first-round knockout of Fabricio Werdum in the main event of UFC 198.

“Cleveland, we’ve got a champion, baby!” Miocic said after the fight.

Now, we have several.

Lest we forget, Cleveland also won a soccer title this summer. The AFC Cleveland Royals defeated the Sonoma County Sol in the National Premier Soccer League national championship game in August.

The Indians’ clinch in Detroit occurred, interestingly, during the Presidential debate Monday, which recalled another Cleveland success this summer — hosting the Republican National Convention to rave reviews.

The Year of Cleveland continues, and the American League playoffs begin next week.
