Cleveland Cavaliers reveal new court design for 2016-17 season
CLEVELAND, Ohio — An updated court design will greet Cleveland Cavaliers players and fans at Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday during the team’s annual intra-squad Wine & Gold Scrimmage.
The team also intimated in a news release Friday that additional new court designs could be revealed during the opening night ring ceremony on Oct. 25 prior to the season tipoff against the New York Knicks.
Fans will notice the addition of a black border around the court, connecting the floor to the team’s popular black sleeved jerseys worn in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals. It replaces the blue border that ringed the court the past two seasons.
Additionally, the Cleveland skyline shadow effect is gone, replaced by the team’s sword logo along the midcourt line on the hardwood maple surface.
New season, new hardwood.

A state of Ohio design appears along the sideline at midcourt, flanked by the team’s DNA statement “All for One. One for All.” Those lucky to get an up-close look at the DNA statement will notice the names of Cavaliers Wine & Gold United members (the team’s year-round season ticket based club) written in the letters.
The floor consists of 210, 4’x8′ sections and 15, 4’x4′ sections. It takes about an hour to assemble, according to the team.
