LeBron James and flagrant foul calls: Crowquill

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Recently, during the Eastern Conference Finals against the Toronto Raptors, LeBron James suggested that some of the common fouls committed against him by the Raptors could have been designated flagrant if the referees abided by strict interpretation of the rules.

Instead, because of his size, strength and the way giant NBA defenders bounce off of him, LeBron suggests referees are less likely to hand out a flagrant foul even though the defender may have practically tackled ‘The King.’

Of course, there are plenty of opponents who feel James gets superstar treatment from the referees when it comes to no calls and phantom fouls that go in ‘The King’s’ favor.

Crowquill, by Plain Dealer artist Ted Crow, appears three times a week on cleveland.com.
