Hot weather causes car to spontaneously combust - with three passengers trapped inside
A spell of hot weather in China has caused a car to spontaneously combust just metres away from a busy traffic light junction.
The black car was pulling up to a red light when it suddenly set on fire -with three passengers inside.
The terrifying incident took place in Linyun County in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
In the clip, flames can be seen engulfing the car as thick black smoke billows across the road, obscuring the view of fellow drivers.
Firefighters were immediately called to the scene and the blaze was soon extinguished.
The three people in the vehicle all managed to escape without injuries, thanks to the prompt response of the emergency services, according to CCTV News .
According to the investigation, the spontaneous combustion was caused by the hot weather and the fact that the car had been travelling on a long journey, causing the engine to get hot.
