Woman goes into labour early after being terrified by ‘killer clown’
The ‘killer clown’ craze seems to be getting ever more sinister and dangerous as one woman was forced into labour early.
A teenage boy jumped out in front of the mother in Whitwick, Leicestershire, startling her.
She gave birth a month early as a result, according to a friend on Facebook.
The post read: ‘Thanks for the concern about my friend. She was eight months pregnant and had a stupid 17-year-old kid jump out on her dressed as a clown.
‘The baby came early but mother and baby are doing good. Please please think, old people and pregnant ladies aren’t the best to scare. It’s a nonsense craze that needs stopping.’
The post drew a series of angry Facebook responses, with some calling on the teenage clown to be arrested.
Nici Muggleton wrote: ‘Glad they are both fine xx this stupid clown thing needs stopping.Where are.the police when this is happening ?? I’m sure the police will soon be there if the idiots pick on the wrong person and they get beat up then the innocent ones will be in the wrong !!! Makes my blood boil !!!’
Carla Gibbins posted: ‘Congratulations to the lady and hope your little one is ok still early for a baby to be born stupid 17 year old should no better not only did he scare a pregnant lady but made her go into prem labour hope he is found and charged for this.’
Charlotte Fell wrote’I hope this doesnt happen to me and im 6months pregnant, i know this sounds stupid but i dernt even stand at my back door at night and let my own dog out for a wee, i just thought it was a facebook rumour for a start but then i kept seeing all these vids and more posts and now people round here are doing it.’
Leicestershire Police vowed to take robust action against the clowns, posting on their Facebook page: ‘Regarding the ‘Killer Clowns’ craze.
Anyone with any concerns should not hesitate to contact police on 101 and rest assured we will take appropriate action against anyone involving themselves in these types of incidents.
‘Causing fear, alarm or distress intentionally is not acceptable in our communities and is potentially a criminal offence.
It’s the most unlikely – and most terrifying – craze of 2016.
For some reason, people with nothing better to do think that dressing up as a killer clown and scaring the living daylight out of people is a good idea.
There have been no reported clown-reported injuries at this stage, but shocking footage and distressing accounts have put the UK on high alert.
So what part of Britain should you head for if you want to have a nice cold pint and wait for all of this to blow over?
Well, we have bad news – the craze has swept up most of the UK.
Newcastle
Sorry Geordies, we reckon you might just live in the killer clown capital of the UK.
Police received six reports in a week involving clowns emerging from bushes and chasing pedestrians.
Megan Bell, 17, who has a phobia of clowns, said: ‘The clown chased me for about 20 seconds. I felt very scared and vulnerable as I was on my own. I don’t think they were armed, but I felt scared for my life.’
Manchester
Manchester is another hotbed of killer clowns.
Clowns carrying machetes climbed on top of a car bonnet, causing another vehicle to speed away through a red light.
Mum Alice Slattery said: ‘I didn’t know whether to laugh or scream so I beeped my horn and luckily the lights changed so I started to drive and he jumped off.’
Another man was spotted wearing a hockey mask and blood-stained poncho in Tameside, Greater Manchester.
Plymouth
One man got his revenge on a creepy clown that had been following him – by chasing him off armed with a beer bottle.
George Birkbeck filmed himself speaking to the clown from across an empty car park before turning the tables and scaring the prankster.
Essex
Two schoolgirls were asked if they wanted to go to a birthday party by two clowns in a van in Clacton-on-Sea.
No attempts were made to harm them, police said.
Berkshire
An invasive clown with no concept of personal space peered through the window of a barbecue restaurant.
A quick-thinking diner at the restaurant in Bracknell managed to take a photo of the clown before it ran away.
Leeds
A student at Leeds Beckett University was left ‘very scared’ after coming face to face with a killer clown in an underpass.
Tom Jackson was particularly frightened as the encounter happened at 4.30am.
West Sussex
In (creepy) Crawley, people have taken photos of clowns ‘lying in wait’ at night.
A resident said: ‘People in my class at college have been saying that people dressed as clowns, terrorising people were seen in the park.’
County Durham
A knife-wielding man leapt out at four children, aged 11 and 12, while they walked to school.
In another incident, these masks and a machete were seized from two 12-year-old boys who tried to scare children in a primary school playground.
Lancashire
This brilliant video was taken in Chorley.
The particularly creepy-looking clown sheepishly walks off after receiving a barrage of abuse from Paul Quinn, who laughs throughout the video, and his mum Margaret, who repeatedly tells it to ‘piss off’.
They are definitely braver than us.
