Celebrity-inspired autumn hair trends you NEED to try this season - from Jessica Alba to Shakira

Going for the chop is always a daunting idea, but you don’t need to lose length in order to make your hair look a little different. If you fancy giving your current look a little revamp, then we’ve got just what you need.

With some clever styling tricks, you can give yourself a fresher, trendier look in no time. We’ve been chatting to expert hair stylist, Jonathan Tobias from Real Hair salon in London, to find out the quickest way for you to find your perfect autumn style.

For curly hair

Soften your curls like Shakira

If your hair naturally has a curl to it, then you might find it takes a lot of time and effort to style it. Frizz is common in thicker, curlier hair types, and with the wet weather, curly girls are bound to struggle. Take a hint from Shakira and smooth your natural texture, instead of straightening it out.

Jonathan’s tip: “Layer up with hair moisturisers and add in something which has a curl activator. The best thing to do is touch it as little as possible, so it’s less likely to go frizzy. If you have one, use a diffuser on the end of your hair dryer so the heat is nicely distributed through your hair, while taming the frizz.”

Lucy Hale

Texturise your waves like Lucy

The good news is, wavy hair is in – as always! This season is all about creating less texturised and more structured waves for maximum bounce and impact. Look at Lucy Hale’s wavy shoulder-length hair for inspiration.

Jonathan’s tip: “Define your waves by taking bigger sections and curling them with a medium-barrelled tong. Pull your fingers through the finished look at the end to break them up a little.”

Jessica Alba

Get sleek straight hair like Jessica

Smooth hair is never out of fashion, and it’s all about making it look shiny and healthy, while still keeping a bit of volume in at the roots. Copy Jessica Alba and give your hair a gorgeous sleek finish.

Jonathan’s tip: “When you’re working with straight hair, it’s all about the pre-styling prep. Heat protect from root to tip and then warm a mousse up in your hands and distribute it through your hair. When it’s dry, you can go over it with straighteners.”
