‘Killer clowns’ with machetes stalk streets of Manchester
A mother has spoken about how her children were left terrified by ‘killer clowns’ armed with machetes climbing on her bonnet.
When they emerged from bushes at a set of traffic lights in Manchester yesterday evening, at least one car bolted through a red light.

Kurtis Mulvaney, 29, took a picture of the clowns looking through the window – he believes the weapon was a fake.
Alice Slattery was with her children Lily, four, and Honey, three, half an hour earlier when she spotted them. Her children screamed as one of the clowns lay across her car bonnet.
She sounded her horn and started driving, forcing the clown to jump off. As she was driving off, she saw a second clown ‘with something in his hand’ who had been lurking behind her car.
She said: ‘It was like something out of a horror movie. I had just looked around to check the two girls were okay and Lily started suddenly screaming.
‘I turned round and there was a clown lay across the bonnet. His feet were close to the driver’s side wheel and he was leaning on his elbow as if he was posing, like he was showing off.

‘But he didn’t have a normal clown mask on – it was quite a scary one. I was shocked. I didn’t know whether to laugh or scream so I beeped my horn and luckily the lights changed so I started to drive and he jumped off.
‘I felt a bit sick, I was just rushing but I was more concerned about the kids. I would have just driven through the lights if they hadn’t changed.
‘As I drove I away I saw another had been stood behind the car in the road. He had something in his hand but I couldn’t see what it was.
There’s been a string of ‘killer clown’ sightings
‘I managed to calm to girls down by saying it was just people playing for Halloween. They are OK now but it was all just a bit weird and surreal to be honest. I think it was just people messing around but you never know really.
‘It’s dangerous though. I could have ran them over and then I would have been in trouble. From just a silly prank, that’s not good.

‘They should think about the consequences as someone could be really hurt. Someone could just get scared and make a jerk reaction to them.
‘I had seen lots online about clowns over the weekend but you don’t expect something like that to happen to yourself.
‘My friend lives in Timperley and she told me that there were two stood in her back garden staring in her window last night.’
Alice says she later saw the picture shared by Kurtis and realised his photo was the same two clowns who terrorised her.
Kurtis, an events organiser from Manchester, says there had been another two clowns lurking in bushes nearby to the road but only two had come out to intimidate the drivers.
