Klay Thompson's 41 points help Golden State Warriors dial up Game 7 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: Saturday NBA Playoffs rewind 2016
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Golden State needed a playoff-record 11 3-pointers from Klay Thompson to keep its record-setting season alive.
The Warriors, who set an NBA record with 73 regular-season wins, once trailed the Oklahoma City Thunder 3-1 in the Western Conference finals. They scored the final nine points Saturday night in Oklahoma City for a 108-101 win that tied the series.
Game 7 is Monday night in Oakland. The winner gets the Cavaliers in The Finals, scheduled to begin Thursday.
Thompson’s 41 points made it possible. His team trailed by eight points with nine minutes to go before a 3-pointer that began a creeping comeback. Thompson scored 19 points and five of his 3s in the fourth quarter, which included a go-ahead 3 in the final 1:35.
Stephen Curry added 29 points and 10 points to offset Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant (29 points) and Russell Westbrook (28 points).
