LeBron James, Cavaliers to scrimmage at The Q today

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cavaliers will take the floor today at The Q for the first time since defeating the Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals in June.

The Cavs’ annual Wine & Gold Scrimmage is set for 3:30 p.m. All tickets — which were free — have been distributed, according to the Cavs’ public relations staff.

Coach Tyronn Lue said the scrimmage portion of the event would consist of three 10-minute periods with a continuously running clock. The players will run through some drills before the scrimmage, and fans will get to serenade their 2016 champs for the first time as each player is shown on the giant video boards during those practice drills.

“It will be great,” Kevin Love said. “I’m sure it will be a lot like the last couple years where our sixth man, they’ve come out and supported us, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a soft Tuesday in January. They’re coming out and filling the crowd. We’re looking forward to getting in front of it again.”

Fans will get to see veterans Mike Dunleavy and Chris “Bird Man” Andersen for the first time as Cavs, as well as rookie Kay Felder. Oh, and LeBron James will be there.

Felder, Jordan McRae, DeAndre Liggins and Markel Brown are all vying for the backup point guard role, though McRae and Liggins are perhaps better suited to play off the ball.

The Cavs’ first preseason game is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at The Q against Orlando.
