Philadelphia notable: The 76ers will be without No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons who underwent successful surgery to repair a broken bone in his foot and will miss several months, if not his entire rookie season. Last week’s preseason debut saw 7-foot-2 Joel Embiid get on the court for the first time in two years. Along with Dario Saric, the 76ers are trying to keep their young players healthy and on the court at the same time.


Cleveland notable: The Cavaliers shot a blistering 65 percent from the field in the first half Wednesday as they cruised to a 117-102 win against Orlando in their preseason opener. Jordan McRae and rookie Kay Felder stood out for the Cavs in the win. Look for Kyrie Irving to get his first minutes of the preseason tonight while LeBron James (rest) and Tristan Thompson (foot) sit out.
