Boom, boom, boom, boom, bang, bang, bang, bang! In the penultimate episode before the season finale of Empire, Jamal Lyon accidentally took a bullet from scorned rapper Freda Gatz. As fans of the hit Fox drama wondered what would happen to the flawless songbird, actor Jussie Smollett sent everyone into a panic with just one tweet.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time w/ @EmpireFOX. I love you all. Truth. Time 2 make a record & some movies. #Empire,” he wrote along with a photo from Wednesday night’s episode.

Does this mean that Jamal won’t make it through his gun-shot wound? Not so fast, Lyon Lovers! A source tells ET that Smollett isn’t going anywhere.
His tweet is likely hype for next week’s season finale. The Lee Daniels show has been picked up for a third season. In his off time, Smollett is working on other projects.

“It was important for me to do something to challenge myself as an actor — and to know that I can do other things,” he tells ET. “It made me stronger for Jamal.”
While Smollett is working on his career, several of his co-stars are focusing on their personal lives. Kaitlin Doubleday wed her longtime love last week and just last month co-stars Trai Byers and Grace Gealey tied the knot.
