Donald Trump could 'cut 70% of federal rules'
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said he could get rid of 70% of federal agency regulations if he is elected.
Speaking at an event in New Hampshire, Mr Trump said he blamed the rules for stifling business, but added environment and safety regulations would be protected.
“We are cutting the regulation at a tremendous clip, Mr Trump said.

“I would say 70% of regulations can go. It’s just stopping businesses from growing.”
He made the comments just hours after one of his advisors told Reuters a Trump administration would seek to cut 10%.

Anthony Scaramucci, a Wall Street financier, said: “We need regulation but immediately every agency will be asked to rate the importance of their regulations and we will push to remove 10% of the least important.”
Mr Scaramucci added Mr Trump would seek to streamline rules as a way to stimulate the economy.
Previous banking reforms are another area Mr Trump is said to be wanting to change.

Mr Scaramucci said Mr Trump would look to remove “the worst anti-business parts” of the Dodd-Frank reforms put in place after the financial crisis in 2008.
Officials at the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of the Interior have declined to comment.
